| ABOUT TROLLEY SQUARE |
In June of 1864, the Wilmington City Railroad Company opened the city's first trolley line, including Delaware
Avenue to Rising Sun Lane. Middle Depot, as it was named, was located at Delaware Avenue and DuPont Street, close
to the B&O Railway passenger depot.
More than one hundred and forty years later, the parcel of land where Middle Depot stood is the center of a vibrant community in
Wilmington, The Village of Trolley Square. Unique, independent shops, restaurants and bars line the streets, and are all within
walking distance of the Center, making Trolley Square and the surrounding neighborhoods a great place to visit for an afternoon or a lifetime. |
